We are currently in that annoying limbo between the end of winter and the beginning of spring, the past few days have been particularly Sybil like but it's still not time to tear out your spring gear. Weather and displays in these fast fashion shops do not match up. How many times have you gone shopping right after Christmas only to see the bathing suits out? Doesn't it make you feel like you're on a consumption treadmill?
Shops used to operate on a two season shopping schedule especially since shops had to get their inventory from an outside source. Now with shops like H&M they control the manufacturing of their products they can make them cheap and fast allowing for a constant slew of trendy clothing. This also creates a constant need to keep up with the ever changing inventory, constantly shopping and creating more unwanted clothing.
Think about your vintage garments and how well they're made, they may be over 50 years old. Your Forever 21 dress is not something that will survive for the next generation. Get off the treadmill and do your own thing. Don't contribute to the waste and go thrifting or buy quality clothes that were meant to last.
Do you even want this hanging around for 50 years? (from Forever 21)
